What's with the #! symbols? It's a short way of saying Hashbang. #! (pronounced "hash bang") comes from the world of unix programming. The symbol '#' is a hash (like on a phone) and the exclamation mark, '!', is often referred to simply as bang. More technically, the first line of what are known as unix shell scripts begins with these 2 characters followed by some text that tells unix how to run the shell script program. It's incredibly hard to come up with a good company name that hasn't been used and who's domain name hasn't been taken. We thought hashbang had a nice ring to it and it wasn't taken!

Other ventures Hashbang has also developed AuctionSieve a new tool for heavy eBay users that helps them filter auctions more efficiently. The program has been embraced enthusiastically by many users.
